Anonymous asked: Nova, Hi :) I have been meaning to ask you: why is it SO DAMN IMPOSSIBLE to find your work on the internet (to read)? Also, I read once that you are thinking of putting your work in a book. I am praying that that is going to happen, and that when it is published and available for sale you're going to have a book-signing so that I can finally meet you and hug you and tell you how much I appreciate you and love your work and totally crushing on you. Swooning from a distance is not nice anymore :(

Good morning. I try to keep my writing off the web as much as possible because, in one incident, a girl plagiarised my work and actually posted it on another site for money - even though, you can’t hide anything on the internet. So, I don’t trust human beings with what’s precious to me. However, yes, a book is coming one of these good days (next year, perhaps) and after that, I might consider the internet. Also, I appreciate you letting me know and that what I do resonates highly with you and I’m glad you’re swooning (not necessarily over me, I mean: swooning in general) because swooning is important and healthy and fun, haha! Love.

My favourite artist, Loyiso Mkize and I are going to have a little collaboration situation - more like a creative conversation between both our mediums of art tomorrow for the opening night of his first ever exhibition in Johannesburg, titled ‘Reflections Eternal.’ He is incredibly brilliant and stylistically speaking, I regard him as the best out there.
I first encountered his work at the Jam That Sessions in Cape Town where I was due to perform and where he was giving a talk about his art. When I got to the venue, I saw his ‘Pooristocrat’ painting and I told my friend, Thenji: “I have to work with him.”I didn’t even know where or how but I spoke it into being. Two months later and it has come true.
Met him this past Sunday evening at the Yiull Damaso Artists Studio (where the exhibition will be) and we spoke for a good three hours about art, his process, the nuances of his presentations and the human condition of Black South Africans in this country which is a mutual concern expressed in both our work. What I love about his work is how poetic it is, truly. I hope the world knows how special and necessary this man’s work is.

Anonymous asked: you're intimidating (yes you are for real for real for real) so i'm just gonna confess how much i really do love anonymously

I suppose feeling intimidated by someone is mostly subjective so I won’t try to understand why that would be the case buuuuuut, this is entirely very sweet and I appreciate you for letting me know :) Love.

Anonymous asked: Lebohang. You're quiet a revelation. I'm imagining how often you get showered with compliments and applause and hearts poured out to you and all sorts of other hallelu. But, really, I hope you never tire from such nice things. You are undeniably a force of a woman. Thank you for sharing your life with us, for teaching me to praise me, my imperfections and insecurities and the fact that i'm the best damn thing to ever happen to me. Keep growing, and find your best self even in pain. Love, to you.

This is one of the loveliest notes I have ever received and you have gotten the first smile of my afternoon. I appreciate the honey. Well, I don’t tire because – I mean, what kind of person is wearied by nice things? – though I do find it to be a pleasant surprise each time it happens because I don’t think I am doing anything particularly special. I’m just really living the life out of this life, y’know? I am glad it resonates in a good way with people. I’m glad that you are rising and growing and glorious, sugar. I’m glad you hold yourself up the highest because it is important to always be on an ascent of some kind. Love. Love. Love. Three times over.
